Why is WSDOT
updating guardrail and making these improvements?
This project will enhance motorist safety on portions of SR 21, 23, 26, 27, 194, 260, 261, 263, 271, 274, 278, and 292 in Adams, Franklin, Spokane, and Whitman Counties.
The End Result
Guardrail and roadsides will be brought up to more current safety standards.

Increasing safety is one of our priorities
Besides the safety benefits of the project itself, safety for the public and the construction workers is paramount while the work is underway. Both a comprehensive traffic control plan and a work zone safety plan are being prepared to protect travelers and workers.
Will this project impact tribal resources?
At WSDOT we seek to address the concerns of the tribal nations using the process outlined in Section 106 of The National Historic Preservation Act and the WSDOT Tribal Consultation Policy adopted in 2003 by the Transportation Commission as part of the WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan
Financial Information
This project is funded through the following sources:
· 2005 Gas Tax (Partnership funding) - $2 million.
· Federal Funds - $880,000
Total Funding Available from all sources - $2 Million.
