Recent Progress
This project will design and construct a new passenger platform and other facilities at Stanwood to be served by Amtrak Cascades trains.
It was previously reported that this project was delayed by a lack of funding for a new siding track near the station site and propsed federal platform design requirements opposed by the BNSF Railway. Both of these issues have been resolved. However, due to uncertainty of the closure of Logen Road as part of the Stanwood - Siding Upgrade project, BNSF cannot commit to allowing construction of the station platform at this time. As discussions regarding the closure of Logen Road continue, WSDOT and Amtrak are proceeding with utility relocations at the station site and the execution of a construction management agreement.

Design Construction Impacts
The station will be located between 271st Street and a power substation in downtown Stanwood. It is unlikely that construction will have an adverse impact on the community, as the site is a vacant lot. However, construction of a platform could have a temporary impact on rail operations in the area.
