Currently the 5-mile spur track connecting the Geiger Spur with the BNSF rail line near Medical Lake must go through Fairchild Air Force Base. The Air Force is planning to shut down its mainline rail connection, preventing trains from traveling through the base. The new spur connection will connect the Geiger Spur with the Palouse and Coulee City Railroad (PCC) near Medical Lake, without going through Fairchild Air Force Base.
