Recent Progress
This project will support the Port of Quincy to further develop their new intermodal facility. This includes the purchase of equipment for loading containers and financial support to build a customer base.
WSDOT and the port executed an agreement June 2006 for the entire scope of work. In September the port purchased the needed equipment. However, they are continuing to negotiate with BNSF to provide the required rail service.
Given the delays due to negotiations, $750,000 was re-appropriated to the 2007-2009 biennium. Federal funding has been extended to 2009. Project planning meetings between the Port and WSDOT are planned for January 2008, which will include Charter development. WSDOT continues to work with the FRA in modification of the project scope.
