Public involvement
The most recent Open House was held on September 23, 2008 to share project and closure information with the public.
Previously, WSDOT hosted an Open House on February 27, 2007 to present this project to the public and share the current design plans for the bridge and talk to staff about the project.
Your thoughts and opinions are important to us. Please contact WSDOT Columbia Gorge Assistant Area Engineer Joanna Lowrey for more information. For the latest public involvement meetings in southwest Washington, visit the Southwest Region's Public Involvement page.
Increasing safety is our priority
Constructing a vehicle/pedestrian/bicycle bridge over the railroad tracks at the West 39th Street crossing will improve safety.
Environmental protection
The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process is designed to consider a number of environmental topics, including wetlands, air quality, noise, fish habitat, and neighborhood qualities. The specific measures required to protect the environment are in the Final EIS.
For environmental information specific to this project, please contact Barb Aberle at (360) 905-2186, or e-mail AberleB@wsdot.wa.gov.
Will this project impact tribal resources?
At WSDOT we seek to address the concerns of the tribal nations using the process outlined in Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the WSDOT Tribal Consultation Policy adopted in 2003 by the Transportation Commission as part of the WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan.
WSDOT has consulted with the Chinook Tribe and Cowlitz Indian Tribe on this project and no impacts are anticipated.
