Ribbon cutting on the new 39th street bridge, one of the four phases of this project.

Workers apply shotcrete facing to retaining walls between W. 39th and Fruit Valley Road, then carve it to resemble a rock surface. Shotcrete is concrete or mortar conveyed through a hose and pneumatically "shot" at high velocity onto a surface.
The wall was stained a burnt umber color and is now complete. Next time you're in this part of Vancouver, drive by and check it out!
