Project Description
Rehabilitates the 69-mile line from Wallula to Dayton and spur tracks. Allows for continued operation of the line that serves rail dependent shippers in Columbia & Walla Walla Counties.

Recent Progress
WSDOT has developed an investment plan for these funds and the $270,000 available for the Dayton Yard Rehabilitation project. The first phase of this investment plan includes replacement of several public crossings in Dayton and repairs to the rail line near Waitsburg. This work is expected to be completed by June 2009. The balance of the funds will be expended in the 2009-2011 and 2011-2013 biennia.

The work near Waitsburg may require some protection of the Touchet River.

Impacts to Traffic
The work near Waitsburg will require syspension of train movements during construction. The crossing work in Dayton may cause some periodic delays to vehicular traffic.
