November 2009
WSDOT has a total of $522,000 to make improvements to the rail line between the Columbia River and Dayton. These funds are spread over four years, starting in July 2007 and ending in June 2011.
The work will occur in two phases. The first phase improved four public crossings in Dayton, including Bulk Plank Road, Pine Street, Front Street, and Fourth Street. This work was completed in June 2009. The scope of work for the second phase of the project will be developed in summer 2009 in consultation with the ports of Columbia and Walla Walla, as well as the railroad operator, Watco, Inc.
