Recent Progress
This project received three federal grants. The first two grants under Section 112 were combined into one. A grant agreement between the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and WSDOT was executed August 2007, which allows WSDOT to pass through the funds to the Port of Olympia. A draft agreement between WSDOT and the Port of Olympia was sent to the Port for review in September 2007.
Scope of Work for the third grant under SAFETEA-LU will be submitted to the FRA after September 2007. Because the funds are based on a percentage of highway trust fund receipts received in a given federal fiscal year, the Port will not receive the full $0.684 million. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) calculates this percentage each federal fiscal year and notifies WSDOT.
