Recent Progress

Lincoln County has been working to set up a livestock feed mill just west of Creston for several years with funding from three sources: A $45,000 grant from the Department of Community, Trade, and Economic Development to the Lincoln County Public Development Authority; a $170,000 federal grant to Lincoln Co. for both nearby highway improvements and rail spur construction; and a 2005 state grant of $30,000 to complete the rail spur.  The project cannot be built if the PCC Railroad’s CW line is abandoned.  Please refer to the Palouse River and Coulee City Railroad Acquisition project page at www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/Rail/PCC_Acquisition/.

Design Construction Impacts
It is possible to complete this project if the Palouse River and Coulee City RR situation is resolved before July 2006.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
There does not appear to be any issues with wetlands or endangered species.  Lincoln County will oversee any permitting issues that might arise.

Impacts to Traffic
There may be some disruptions to freight operations.
