Rail - Morton Business Development Project

Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending September 2007

Project Title & Location
Morton Business Development, Lewis County

Project Description
This project continues railroad rehabilitation work accomplished by the Tacoma RMDRR Morton Line Repairs –Phase 2 project, completed in June 2005, which restored rail service to Morton. Exterior rehabilitation of the recently relocated Morton Depot will contribute to the revitalization of downtown Morton.

Contractor/Consultant
Tacoma Rail, Tacoma, WA

Recent Progress
The historic Morton Depot now sits on a new concrete foundation in downtown Morton.  The next step is exterior rehabilitation of the building.  Railroad track rehabilitation has not yet begun, but is anticipated for Spring 2007.

Design Construction Impacts
None are anticipated, as the track work is basic rehabilitation, with exception of one railroad bridge trestle which will be strengthened during this project.  Since the trestle is accessible only from the railroad, there will be no construction impacts to local roadway infrastructure.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
None are anticipated.

Impacts to Traffic
Depot rehabilitation will require work vehicles to access the site in downtown Morton.
