Recent Progress
The first phase of track construction work south of the station has been completed. The BNSF main line track was relocated approximately 50 feet to the east and new tracks connecting to the station platforms was completed in July. These improvements will reduce freight train and passenger train conflicts in the area and allow for more daily passenger trains at the station.
Sound Transit directed BNSF construction for both WSDOT-funded and Sound Transit-funded improvements near King Street Station, based on funding agreements between the two agencies that were negotiated in October 2006 and April 2007. The work that was funded for the 2007-2009 biennium has been completed. The remaining work will be performed in the 2009-2011 biennium.
