Port of Ephrata Spur Rehabilitation, Ephrata, WA

Project Description
This project is proactive rehabilitation of an existing rail spur located at the Port of Ephrata. At current rail traffic volume, the track is expected to be closed by 2013 due to wear.

Recent Progress
WSDOT awarded grant monies to Port of Ephrata in September 2007.  Project Charter was developed jointly and signed in November 2007.  Project funding agreement was developed jointly and signed in December 2007.


Design Construction Impacts
Total scope is to rehabilitate the following sections of spur and sub-spurs by replacing rail, tie, and ballast.  Construction will need to be coordinated with shippers currently using the line. 




Environmental Impacts / Compliance
This is a critical aspect of any WSDOT project.  WSDOT makes every effort to assess and minimize environmental impact from our projects.  During construction, WSDOT will reduce the impact to wetlands, creeks, and rivers in the project area.


Impacts to Traffic
Only minor impacts to local roadway traffic is anticipated during construction.
