Recent Progress
WSDOT met with Yakima County in January 2008. The county and WSDOT have decided to revert back to the original funding agreement in which the grant funds provide an upgrade to the Toppenish Simcoe and Western Rail Line between Wesley Junction (MP 0.00) and Town of Harrah (MP 9.6). The work includes the purchase of materials and construction.
This project went to ad in May 2008; opening bids on May 21, 2008. The winning bid was $70,000 over remaining grant funding. The county will arrange for additional funds. Construction is expected to start July 2008 with completion scheduled for April 2009.
