		Initiate and Align the Team	Process
Activity:	Identify Roles and Responsibilities		Revision July 1, 2005
Description:	The definition, and mutual acceptance, of organizational and individual Roles and Responsibilities delineates “who will do what.” Roles and Responsibilities are defined at the organizational level, down to the level of each individual on the project team. The team members’ roles are the specific titles or positions occupied; e.g., team leader, designer, permit coordinator. The responsibility is the deliverable or product expected of the team or individual; e.g., manage change issues, schedules. WSDOT defines the basic project responsibilities for three roles: Ø· Region/Organization Management Ø· Project Manager Ø· Project Team Members

Steps:	1. The Project Manager collaborates with the project team to identify individual roles to deliver the Team Mission/Assignments
	2. Review each role; determine individual and team responsibilities and the corresponding authority with each team member.
