I-5 HOV - Port of Tacoma to King County Line

Project Description
This project builds HOV lanes on I-5 from the Port of Tacoma Road to the Pierce/King County line. There are currently eight lanes of traffic and there will be 10 lanes when the project is complete.

Recent Progress

Property needed for the wetland mitigation site on this project has been acquired.  A consultant, CH2M Hill, has been hired to develop the wetland mitigation plan and to develop plans for the site restoration. 

 

Design Construction Impacts

No issues at this time.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance

Right-of-way acquisitions for storm water treatment facilities are underway and are to be completed this summer.

Impacts to Traffic
Temporary impacts during construction could include narrow lanes along with nighttime lane closures and minor detours at the 54th Avenue Interchange.

Right-of-Way acquisition complete June 2005   Needed right-of-way for storm water treatment facilities is scheduled to be acquired this summer.

Open to traffic October 2011   No issues at this time.
