NCR 2017 Pavement Rehabilitation and Seal

Status

July 2017

The next section to be chip sealed is US 2 - Tumwater Canyon running from 7/17 to 8/17.  The work is between the Wenatchee River Bridge at the top of the Canyon (MP 90) to Leavenworth (MP 99).  Drivers can expect up to 20 minute delays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  The first two weeks will be crack sealing and pre-level asphalt paving.  Chip sealing will follow. The final week will re-stripe, install dilineators, new signs and other finish work.

This P-1 Roadway Preservation project rehabilitates or chip seals 210 miles of highway on eight highways in Chelan, Douglas, Grant, and Okanogan Counties.

Why is WSDOT repairing and resurfacing these highways?

This project includes crack sealing only for:

  • I-90 MP 148.44 to MP 175.60 - George to Moses Lake and MP 181.77 to MP 191.89 - SR 17 to Warden
  • SR 17 MP 67.75 to MP 96.55- Ephrata to Coulee City and MP 98.30 to MP 119.67 - Coulee City to Bridgeport
  • SR 153 MP 8.00 to MP 30.74 - Methow to SR 20

and...pavement repair, crack sealing, and chip sealing for:

  • US 2 MP 90.72 to MP 99.04 - Tumwater Canyon
  • SR 28 MP 10.17 to MP 19.12 - Rock Island to Crescent Bar
  • SR 173 MP 0.00 to MP 11.99 - Bridgeport to Brewster 
  • SR 281 MP 0.00 to MP 10.54 - George to Quincy 
  • SR 283 MP 0.05 to MP 14.74 - George to SR 28

This project also includes building a two mile long passing lane on SR 28 at Spanish Orchards and a "cushion course" rehabilitation of SR 283 which adds six inches of new road bed under the new surface.

The End Result
Preservation of pavement and roadbed providing a better and longer lasting road surface.
