West Side Highway/Whittle Creek Bridge Reconstruction

Reconstruct roadway to include two 12-foot travel lanes and 8-foot shoulders. Raise vertical profile of roadway to address flooding issues. Replace deteriorated Whittle Creek Bridge structure.

Why are we Building This Project?
Addition of wider travel lanes and shoulders will enhance the safety of this heavily traveled rural corridor. The existing roadway has been flooded during recent major flood events, restricting access for emergency response vehicles. Raising the profile of the roadway will provide an all-weather access. The existing bridge structure at the Whittle Creek crossing is heavily deteriorated and undersized for the current and projected flows on Whittle Creek. The bridge will be replaced with a three-sided concrete box structure.
