Construct new roadway between Lincoln Road and Ash Street, to current arterial street standards. New paving, sidewalks, curbing, bike & shared use lanes, swales, plantings and improved horizontal and vertical grades. Grind & Overlay from Austin Road to Ash Street.
Why are we Building This Project?
The roadway is not adequately designed for uphill traffic and has several safety hazards including line-of-sight problems both vertically and horizontally. This roadway is the major arterial connecting the Five Mile Community with the rest of the city of spokane, including major commercial developments along Francis Avenue as well as the downtown core itself. ( By way of the Ash/Maple corridor.)
In addition to the undersized roadway there are currently no provisions for bicycles or pedestrians.
The existing roadway surface has deteriorated and needs reconstruction and widening.
