Eastern Region Low Cost Intersection Improvements

Project Status

May 2008

  • Contract awarded to Spokane Rock Products with a construction bid of $398,698. 
  • Construction start in Spring of 2008.

The WSDOT will add left-turn lanes at four intersections:

  • North Dragoon Creek Rd. on US 395
  • South Dragoon Creek Rd. on US 395
  • Mantz-Rickey Road on US 395
  • Bradshaw Road on US 195

Why is WSDOT improving these intersections?
Adding left-turn lanes at these locations will improve safety for motorists.

The End Result
Safer turning and through traffic operations on these highways.

Project Benefits
Driver safety will be enhanced with the availability of turn lanes at these intersections.

What is the project timeline?
It is expected that construction will begin in the spring with completion during summer of 2008.

All applicable environmental laws and guidelines are being followed. No environmental permits are anticipated to be required for this project.

Increasing safety is one of our priorities
Besides the safety benefits of the project itself, safety for the public and the construction workers is paramount while the work is underway. Both a comprehensive traffic control plan and a work zone safety plan are being prepared to protect travelers and workers.

Will this project impact tribal resources?
No cultural or archeological impacts have been identified. WSDOT addresses the concerns of tribal nations using the process outlined in section 106 of The National Historic Preservation Act and the WSDOT Tribal Consultation Policy adopted in 2003 by the Transportation Commission as part of the WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan.
