Project Facts
  • This project paves 10.8 miles of the right lane heading eastbound between Vantage and George.
  • Construction is scheduled for the spring of 2008.
  • Design work is currently underway.

Project Status

Spring 2008

Construction begins this spring and should take about six weeks to complete.

This preservation project paves 10.8 miles of the right lane heading eastbound between Vantage and George.

Why is WSDOT paving I-90?
The right lane heading eastbound between Vantage and George is due for pavement restoration due to deterioration.

The End Result
The project will prevent further deterioration to the existing roadway at the least possible "life cycle" cost.

Increasing safety is one of our priorities
Safety for the public and the construction workers is paramount while the work is underway.  A comprehensive traffic control plan will be prepared to protect travelers and workers.

Will this project impact tribal resources?
No impacts have been identified.  WSDOT addresses the concerns of tribal nations using the process outlined in Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and WSDOT Tribal Consultation Policy adoped in 2003 by the Transportation Commission as part of the WSDOT Centennial Accord Plan.

Financial Information
This project was advertised for private contractor bids on September 24th and bids were opened on October 25th. Contract #7419 was awarded to Central Washington Asphalt on October 29th, 2007 for $1,359,595.95, 9% under the engineering estimate.

This project is funded through the following sources:

  • Pre-Existing Gas Tax - $2.1 million
  • Total funding from all sources - $2.1 million
