June 2007 - Retaining wall construction along the West Mercer Way westbound on-ramp. Using the large drill on the right, crews drill shafts into which they place steel piles. They then pour concrete down the chute (on the left side of the photo) to set the pile in place.

April 2007 - Crews assemble a cage of steel reinforcing bars. They will lower the cage into a shaft they've drilled, and will pour concrete around it. This is part of the construction of the new westbound HOV ramp at 80th Ave. SE on Mercer Island.
