Project Description
This project constructs a new truck climbing/passing lane on Interstate 90 eastbound from Highline Canal to Elk Heights, to reduce accidents from slower moving vehicles and passing vehicles.

Contractor/Consultant
ContractorScarsella Brothers, Inc. – Seattle WA

Recent Progress
The contractor, Scarsella Brothers, Inc. of Seattle, Washington, has completed clearing for the widening.  90% of the embankment, excavation and drainage are complete.  Replacement of the left side bridge rail for Highline Canal bridge is complete.   The bridge will be widened as part of the 2004 construction.

Design Construction Impacts
Because of the area’s climate, work on the project was suspended November 20 due to snow and cold temperatures.  Work will resume in the spring of 2004 as weather allows (estimated April).

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
To comply with project permits, best management practices for construction are being implemented.

Impacts to Traffic
Lane closures will occur Monday thru Thursday while Scarsella Bros. is working.  No lane closures are allowed Friday thru Sunday or holidays.
