Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending September 2005

Project Title & Location
I-90/Argonne Rd. to Sullivan Rd.-Spokane Valley

Project Description
This project will add a third lane, in each direction, to Interstate 90 between the Argonne Rd. I/C and the Sullivan Rd. I/C. All existing lanes will be rebuilt with Portland Cement Concrete.

Recent Progress

Work has now exceeded eighty percent complete. Reconstruction of the westbound lanes commenced in March of 2005.  On May 14th paving activities started in these lanes and is nearing completion.  Noise walls are now complete.  Other ongoing activities include the construction of electrical and communication systems and median barrier.

Design Construction Impacts

No issues at this time.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance

The Contractor will be using best management practices to mitigate and minimize any potential negative impacts to the environment.

Impacts to Traffic

Traffic is in its temporary realigned position for the 2005 construction season.  Minor ramp reconfigurations will occur late this summer in the WB direction.  WB traffic is scheduled to be switched onto the new WB lanes early this fall.  This switch will be a major traffic revision.  As the project approaches the final stages of completion, drivers should expect additional traffic revisions from now until the scheduled completion this fall.

EB traffic moved to temporary lanes March 2004 March 2004 All traffic has been moved to temporary lanes.  The Contractor completed reconstruction of the eastbound half of the freeway in October 2004..
EB lanes reconstructed November 2004  October 23, 2004 EB traffic was moved to its temporary alignment for the winter on October 23, 2004.  1 week ahead of schedule.
WB traffic moved to temporary lanes March 2005   March 12, 2005 All traffic has been moved to temporary lanes.  Reconstruction of the westbound half of the freeway is in the final stages.
Open to Traffic Fall 2005   No issues at this time
