This project will improve I-90 by providing a safer, more efficient six-lane freeway from Hyak to Easton. Avalanche closures will be greatly reduced by installing avalanche fencing and by shifting the highway onto bridges allowing avalanches to pass underneath. New pavement, realigned roadway, and stabilized slopes will provide drivers with a safer, smoother, more enjoyable drive. The construction of over-crossings and under-crossings will help protect both wildlife and motorists. Overall, I-90 will be a safer, more reliable route, improving the quality of life for travelers between Eastern and Western Washington.
