Overview
We built a two-lane roundabout at the I-90/SR 202 interchange in North Bend. The roundabout will help improve safety and reduce congestion at this busy interchange.
 | Improves Safety
Roundabouts reduce many of the safety hazards of traditional intersections.
|
 | Relieves Congestion
Entering vehicles always yield to vehicles within the roundabout. This results in a smooth flow of traffic and eliminates the long lines of vehicles seen at many signals.

Partnerships & Cooperation
We began designing this project in January 2005 and began construction in April 2007. We held an informational open house at the Mount Si Senior Center on Oct. 25, 2005 to answer questions about the proposed roundabout.
At our open house the community said they wanted the option to return to E Ribary Way once they entered the roundabout and we listened. We revisited the proposed teardrop-shaped design and determined that a more traditional roundabout would still fit within the right of way and provide more benefits for drivers in the community.
This project is exempt from the Section 106 process according to provisions of the Programmatic Agreement signed on July 18, 2000 between the Washington State Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration, the State Historic Preservation Officer, and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.
