Recent Progress

Design is complete.  Final reviews of the Plans, Specifications and Estimate were submitted and approved.  The project's advertisement is scheduled for late December.

Design Construction Impacts
Approximately 18 acres of right of way were purchased for the project.  This project will require approximately 200,000 CY of rock blasting and roadway excavation to be used as embankment for the reconstructed ramps.  This project will also temporally relocate an USBR irrigation wasteway, requiring the irrigation water to be temporally routed outside the blasting area.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Under NEPA guidelines, the project has been categorized as a Documented CE (Categorical Exclusion).  Under SEPA guidelines, the project has been categorized as a Determination of Non-Significance (DNS).  An Environmental Classification Summary was completed in October 2001.

Impacts to Traffic
Rolling slowdowns will cause short-term delays during the rock blasting.  There will be a two-week closure of the WB on and off ramps causing traffic to use detours through the project.  There will also be a three-day closure of the EB off ramp causing traffic to use detours again.
