The large expansion joints on each end of the bridge needed to be replaced.


The expansion joints were cracking and required constant maintenance.


General Construction Co. crews chip away at the concrete around the cracked joints.


On May 9 and 10, crews used cranes to maneuver two new, 40-ton expansion joints into the I-90 express lanes.


The new joint is carefully positioned into place.


The new expansion joints will improve driver safety.


Crews built two temporary bridges to maintain access for bicyclists and pedestrians during construction.
