Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending June 2004

Project Title & Location
I-90/ Cle Elum River Br. 90/134N -
West of Cle Elum

Project Description
This project will provide increased vertical clearance for the westbound Cle Elum River bridge (90/134N).

Contractor/Consultant
Diamaco Inc. - Bellevue WA

Recent Progress

Contract was awarded to Diamaco Inc. on 4/26/04 for $507,326.  Diamaco has measured the bridge for the new steel members and has ordered the steel from the fabricators.  Delivery is expected late August.

Design Construction Impacts

The contractor's bid was $200,000 below the State's estimate, due to better than expected material and fabrication costs for the bridge steel.  Due to steel availability issues, project will not be complete until Fall.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
All environmental documents were completed in the fall of 2003.  All work will occur within the existing right of way.  Impacts are minimal and no mitigation is required for this project.  Best management practices will be used during construction.

Impacts to Traffic
During construction hours, the speed limit will be reduced and westbound traffic will be detoured to the eastbound lanes.  I-90 will be limited to one lane in each direction, separated by traffic safety barrels.  All lanes will be open to traffic from Friday noon to midnight Sunday, during non-work hours, and on holidays.
