I-82 - Valley Mall Boulevard Interchange Improvements

Project Description
This project improves connections to the interstate and encourages economic growth and development for both Union Gap and Yakima. The interchange reconfiguration will provide increased motorist safety, additional capacity, and help free up movement on and off the interstate to connect smoothly with the expanding local road system.

Project not yet advertised or awarded.

Recent Progress

The 2006 Legislative session provided the additional funds nessesary to complete the project.  Total budgeted amount for this project is currently $30.1 million.

We are in the process of updating the traffic model needed to verify the design of the interchange.  Meetings are being held this month to discuss environmental issues and opportunities with local agencies.

None anticipated at this time.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The environmental process is just beginning.  No impacts anticipated at this time.

Impacts to Traffic
Occasional one lane closures and minor detours are anticipated.
