Concrete panels that show extensive wear and cracking will be replaced.
Vehicle weight is transferred over concrete panels as it travels over the roadway surface. As the vehicle passes over each joint, the weight is transferred from one panel to another. The full weight is placed on the edge of each panel where it is least able to withstand these forces. Over time, this cracks the edge and shifts the concrete panels creating an uneven and damaged roadway surface.
