WSDOT contractor crews repaved 2.6 miles of cracked and rutted asphalt on northbound I-5 between SR 531 and the Stillaguamish River Bridge.
The on- and off-ramps at SR 530 and the Smokey Point Rest Area on-ramp to southbound I-5 were also repaved.
Repaving removes cracks, ruts and potholes from the pavement where water can collect. This gives drivers a smoother, safer trip.
| Economic Incentive
Repaving this section of I-5 reduces the need for costly emergency repairs which can cause unwanted congestion during peak travel times.
Partnerships & Cooperation
WSDOT worked with nearby cities and transit to coordinate planned lane and ramp closures.
