2006, Dec. - We turned the new traffic signal on at the southbound I-5 interchange with Fairhaven Parkway.  This will help drivers exit I-5 more safely, without backing up onto the freeway.
Crews closed access to and from 32nd Street at SR 11.

2006, 03-31: Looking north, up the southbound I-5 exit to Fairhaven Parkway. More than 18,000 vehicles use the interchange daily and vehicles routinely back up the exit, causing congestion and delays.
30th Street and southbound I-5 exit are too close together.
2006, 03-31: Looking north across Fairhaven Parkway at 32nd Street and the southbound I-5 exit. 32nd Street is on the left hand side of the picture. The I-5 exit and 32nd Street are located too close together, making access to and from Fairhaven Parkway difficult.

We will close access to and from 32nd Street.
2006, 03-31: Looking north across Fairhaven Parkway and up 32nd Street. We will close access to and from 32nd Street at Fairhaven Parkway to improve safety. Once we install the new light at the southbound I-5 interchange, cars exiting I-5 will be able to turn onto Fairhaven Parkway without stopping when there's a green light, making it more difficult for cars turning out of 32nd Street. Vehicles normally using 32nd Street will be routed to 30th Street, where there's a signal.

With 32nd Street closed, we will route traffic to 30th Street.
2006, 03-31: Looking north along 30th Street. Prior to routing all traffic down 30th Street, we will temporarily close the street to make improvements so it will better handle more vehicles. We will widen the street, build sidewalks and install a new drainage system. While 30th Street is temporarily closed we will route traffic to 24th Street. We will install a temporary signal at 24th Street to help drivers get on and off Fairhaven Parkway.
We will build a new right turn lane to the southbound I-5 on ramp.
2006, 03-31: Looking east along Fairhaven Parkway at Interstate 5. We will build a new right turn lane for drivers turning on to the southbound I-5 on ramp.

We will build new sidewalks through the interchange.
