Overview
We increased capacity on the Interstate 5 interchange at Old Fairhaven Parkway (SR 11) to reduce congestion and improve safety in an area that continues to see increased traffic.
We widened the southbound I-5 exit, built a left turn to Old Fairhaven Parkway, installed a new signal and built a new right turn onto the southbound I-5 on-ramp.
We also installed sidewalks through the interchange.
These improvements should reduce the number of crashes.
 | Improves Safety
The additional off-ramp lane should help prevent high-speed rear-end collisions by reducing backups onto the freeway.
We also permanently closed the 32nd Street connection to Fairhaven Parkway because it was too close to the intersection. This should prevent crashes.

 | Relieves Congestion
We widened the off-ramp and added a lane to help prevent traffic from backing up onto I-5.
We also added a signal to keep traffic moving efficiently through the intersection.
Because we closed 32nd Street, we routed drivers to 30th Street, which we widened to handle more traffic.
