Project Description
The project will build noise walls to reduce existing freeway-generated noise along I-5 in the Roanoke vicinity. The project is funded to complete design and construction.

Recent Progress
Stage 2 Construction:
Construction on the Boylston wall is complete and Boylston Street opened to traffic in October. Construction on the Harvard on-ramp wall was completed in November 2005. Some electrical and paving work on the on-ramp remain to be completed. Landscaping along Harvard Street will be completed in spring 2006.
Stage 3 Preliminary Engineering:
Schedule and budget planning underway for the start of design work on the Stage 3 project (Boston to Shelby Noise Walls) in January 2006.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Stage 2:
Environmental documentation has been cleared. Noise Variance permit and Street Use permits have been obtained from the City of Seattle.
Stage 3:
Environmental documentation and permits will be determined during the design phase of the project.

Impacts to Traffic
There will be street and lane closures on local streets during construction. Metro service may be impacted temporarily (weekends only). Impacts to local street traffic will be similar during stage 3 construction
