Recent Progress
This project is currently in the early design phase. Preliminary staging and alignment alternates are being investigated at this time. In November 2002, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) granted approval for modifying the accesses on I-5 and I-205 at NE 134th Street. In April 2003, FHWA approved a modified interchange concept for this location. WSDOT received a $40 million funding package from the Washington State Legislature in 2003 for this project. With this funding, the environmental process and project design can begin, with construction proposed to start in 2011.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The necessary environmental impact study for this project will detail the project's direct and indirect environmental impacts (natural, ecological, societal and economic) in order to guide final design and construction. This project may provide an opportunity to improve wetland habitat and storm water runoff in the project area.

Impacts to Traffic
There will be significant impacts to traffic which will be determined as the project develops.
