Recent Progress

In April, the legislature transferred $15 Million in Nickel funds to this project bringing the total to $55 million of Nickel funds.  Clark County has secured $8 million in TIB funds, $1 million in Fed. Earmarks, and $6 million from the County Road Fund, bringing the total funding to $70 million.  They have requested an additional $10 million in project grants.

In April, HDR received the notice to proceed with the environmental assessment that is currently underway and is scheduled to be complete in Spring 2006.

In April, the oversight committee endorsed the recommended build alternative that will be evaluated during the EA process.  It consists of a full at-grade Single Point Urban Interchange at NE 139th St. and I-5 with the realignment of I-205 NB and SB to accommodate NE 139th St., and other County road improvements.   This alternative will be on display at the agency scoping meeting and public open house on June 22, 2005.

The final CRA report has been released, and a VE study and 30% plans are scheduled for September 2005. The project is on schedule for a construction start date of Spring 2008, provided advanced funding, approximately $30 million, can be secured by the County and State.

Design Construction Impacts
It is too early in the project to determine the magnitude of these impacts.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance

The Environmental Assessment and impact study for this project will detail the project's direct and indirect environmental impacts (natural, ecological, societal and economic) in order to guide final design and construction.  This project may provide an opportunity to improve wetland habitat and storm water runoff in the project area.

Impacts to Traffic
There will be impacts to traffic during construction, which will be determined as the project develops.
