Recent Progress
The SW Region recently requested advancement of $800,000 for early acquisition of undeveloped property that is currently for sale. Acquiring this property will help ensure timely project completion and at the same time eliminate the concern and expense associated with acquiring developed property. The request for advancement was approved by the Commission under the transfer proviso (Section 503) contained in the 2004 Supplemental Transportation Budget. An offer has been made and negotiations with the property owners are currently under way.
Recently additional needed parcels have become available and WSDOT is requesting the advance of another $850,000 for their acquisition, for a total advance this biennium of $1.65 million. The advance of funds will not increase the total project cost and should support agreed upon property acquisitions that will lessen the possibilities of delay or increased costs.
