Recent Progress
The project has been broken into two stages. Stage one will include the work related to the interstate system. Stage 2 will make improvements at NE 134th Street and possibly widen I-5 between 134th Street and I-205. This proposal is included in the 2007-2009 budget request.
Construction of phase one will begin in 2009 if permits are acquired, design is finalized, and the county has completed the financing plan. Updated County Comprehensive Plan traffic numbers required the relocation of the SB off-ramp to the NE 139th Street Interchange. An additonal auxillary lane is being designed on SB I-5 north of NE 139th St. A loop ramp from NE 20th Avenue to SB I-205 is added.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The Environmental Assessment and impact study for this project will detail the project's direct and indirect environmental impacts (natural, ecological, societal and economic) in order to guide final design and construction. This project may provide an opportunity to improve wetland habitat and storm water runoff in the project area.
The EA is on schedule and the draft discipline reports are currently under review.
