This project was on I-5 between Stanwood and Smokey Point. Beginning in July 2014, WSDOT contractor crews replaced the southbound Stillaguamish River bridge deck and some of the steel frame under the deck. During the deck replacement, I-5 was reduced to two lanes in each direction near the bridges and shared the northbound Stillaguamish River bridge. Southbound traffic used crossover lanes built in the median on each side of the bridges. The crossover lanes were used for about four months. When work was completed, I-5 was restored to three lanes in each direction on separate bridges.
