I-5 - Samish Way to Sunset Drive - Complete October 2005

Project Status - Complete
Construction is complete and I-5 is smooth.

Overview
Smoothed the surface of I-5, giving drivers better control of their vehicles, rebuilt the shoulders, removed outdated gutters, and installed new concrete barrier and cable guardrail.

This section of I-5 was the original roadway built in the 1950s. It served the public well for many years, but was showing its age through settling, cracks and broken panels. Over 50 years traffic slowly rocked the highway panels back and forth, causing them to loosen and create the familiar "bump bump bump" sound motorists heard (and felt) when they drove the highway.  This project was needed work to extend the useful life of the roadway.

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
The improved surface of I-5 gives drivers better control of their vehicles. Rebuilt shoulders, better drainage, and new concrete barrier and cable guardrail also makes the road safer for drivers.
