In celebration of the completion of the I-5 Widening project, WSDOT hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony. The event took place Tuesday, October 10 at the NE 129th Street Bridge over I-5 in Vancouver.

The ribbon cutting event was a time for WSDOT, Hamilton Construction, Local Elected Officials and the public to celebrate the wider, safer I-5 in the Salmon Creek area.

Lead Inspector Mark Degenhart with Secretary of Transportation Doug MacDonald.
WSDOT would like to thank the motorists passing through or living in Vancouver, for their patience during the I-5 construction. After 3 years of construction, I-5 in the Salmon Creek vicinity is now functionally complete. Motorists can now enjoy increased capacity and congestion relief on I-5 between NE 99th Street and NE 134th Street. The interstate was widened from two to three lanes in each direction, plus an auxiliary lane. In addition, the NE 129th Street overpass and the Salmon Creek/NE 117th Street bridges were replaced with ones that meet current design, safety and seismic standards.
