Recent Progress
Hamilton Construction completed the abutments, center column, girders, and bridge deck for the NE 129th St bridge. They are currently constructing the embankments on the west and east ends of the bridge to bring NE 129th St to its final grade. On-going work includes demolition and construction of a noise wall and grading operations necessary for shifting traffic to the temporary detour bridge at Salmon Creek.

Design Construction Impacts
Water runoff from naturally occurring springs has caused the need for a trench drain that will collect water before it encounters the roadway. Existing soil conditions in some widening areas were unsuitable for roadway construction so the contractor over excavated and placed suitable material in those locations.

|
Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Erosion control and water quality are monitored on a daily basis to maintain compliance with the regulatory permits.
|
Impacts to Traffic
The lanes on I-5 southbound have been narrowed to 11’ but two lanes in each direction are maintained during daylight hours. WSDOT has reduced the speed limit on I-5 to 50 mph from NE 99th St. to NE 134th St. NE 129th Street over I-5 has been closed since January 30 to allow for construction of the new bridge (Bridge 5/23).
