Project Title & Location
I-5/SR 501 Ridgefield Interchange - Rebuild Interchange

Project Description
This project consists of constructing a new bridge across I-5, reconstructing the I-5 on and off ramps, widening SR 501 between 56th Place and 65th Avenue, and improving the SR 501 intersections at 56th Place and 65th Avenue. The project will reduce congestion and improve traffic flow.

Contractor/Consultant
This project is a partnership between the City of Ridgefield and WSDOT.  HDR Consultant is performing engineering and environmental work.

Recent Progress
The 60% design was submitted in early August for review.  The right of way and access plans are complete.  The Interchange Justification Report was submitted to Headquarters.

Design Construction Impacts
The new interchange will be constructed south of the existing bridge.  This will allow for minimized traffic impacts during construction.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
Wetland impacts will create the need to acquire mitigation sites.  A conceptual mitigation plan has been developed.  The environmental documentation (NEPA) will be complete in September 2007. 

Impacts to Traffic
Construction staging and traffic control strategies are currently being developed.
