I-5/SR 432 Talley Way Interchanges

Project Description
The interchanges at I-5 and SR 432, and at SR 432 and Talley Way are in close proximity to each other with substandard weaving lengths between ramps. This project will reduce congestion and collision risk by reconstructing portions of the interchanges and improving connections to existing roadways.

PB is performing the environmental documentation and interchange justification report.

Recent Progress
Structures and seismic retrofit costs are being re-evaluated. One of the sundry site plans for the wetland mitigation sites has been approved. The second sundry site plan and the right of way plans are undergoing final revisions prior to approval.

Design Construction Impacts
Preliminary geotechnical investigation was performed from March to May 2008. A geotechnical report is being done to determine if liquefaction mitigation is needed in order to widen the existing structure over I-5 and to determine details for proposed structures and walls. Preliminary bridge plans and more detailed design work are under way.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The baseline environmental technical reports of the existing conditions are complete. BA consultations may delay the project.

Impacts to Traffic
The project team is scheduling construction staging and traffic control concepts to begin this quarter.
