I-5 - SR 432 Talley Way Interchange

Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending September 2006

Project Title & Location
I-5/SR 432 Talley Way Interchanges

Project Description
The interchanges at I-5 and SR 432, and at SR 432 and Talley Way are in close proximity to each other with substandard weaving lengths between ramps. This project will reduce congestion and collision risk by reconstructing portions of the interchanges and improving connections to existing roadways.

Recent Progress

Based on the preliminary geotechnical investigation and Constructability review performed earlier this year it was decided that there was too great a risk to move forward with the "VE" Plan.  The Project Team reviewed all previous alternatives and some new ones.  The Project Management Team has endorsed a new Alternative Plan "M".

Design Construction Impacts

More preliminary geotechnical work will be done to determine if liquefaction mitigation is needed in order to widen the existing structure over I-5.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance

The baseline environmental technical reports of the existing conditions are complete.

Impacts to Traffic
At this time, there are no traffic impacts.
