I-5 - SR 432 Talley Way Interchange

Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending June 2006

Project Title & Location
I-5/SR 432 Talley Way Interchanges

Project Description
The interchanges at I-5 and SR 432, and at SR 432 and Talley Way are in close proximity to each other with substandard weaving lengths between ramps. This project will reduce congestion and collision risk by reconstructing portions of the interchanges and improving connections to existing roadways.

Contractor/Consultant
Parsons, Brinkerhoff, Quade & Douglas

Recent Progress
In January 2006, project management duties transferred from the CWCOG to the Kelso project office.  A constructability review focusing on wall and bridge foundation options was recently completed.

Design Construction Impacts
The findings of the preliminary geotechnical work identified extremely poor subsurface conditions.  The subsurface soil is very loosely compacted and is subject to seismic liquifaction.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance

The baseline environmental technical reports of the existing conditions are complete.

Impacts to Traffic
At this time, there are no traffic impacts.
