Quarterly Project Report Update for Quarter Ending December 2008

Project Title & Location
I-5/SR 432 Talley Way Interchanges

Project Description
The interchanges at I-5 and SR 432, and at SR 432 and Talley Way are in close proximity to each other with substandard weaving lengths between ramps. This project will reduce congestion and collision risk by reconstructing portions of the interchanges and improving connections to existing roadways.

Contractor/Consultant
Parsons Brinckerhoff has prepared the environmental documentation and interchange justification report.

Recent Progress
Environmental Documentation was completed in October.  Both of the sundry site plans for the wetland mitigation sites have been approved.  Preliminary bridge plans have been approved.   The 60% review comments have been compiled and design team is working toward an April 90% review. 

Design Construction Impacts
Preliminary geotechnical investigation was performed from March to May 2008.  A site specific analysis is underway to determine what soil stabilization will be necessary. Metroland Development traffic mitigation has been included in PS&E package.  Negotiations with developer are currently taking place.  Developer is wanting intersection operational by Fall of 2010.

Environmental Impacts / Compliance
The baseline environmental technical reports of the existing conditions are complete. Environmental Documentation is complete.

Impacts to Traffic
The project team is scheduling construction staging and traffic control concepts to begin this quarter.
