The walls that will support the new HOV on and off-ramps in the median are formed by placing pre-cast concrete panels vertically, attaching steel grids to the backs of the panels, and burying the grids in the fill.

Sound Transit's garage for their new Federal Way Transit Center is basically complete. The tower on the garage (front) is for two elevators serving all five floors. The tower to the left is for the elevator serving the passenger loading area.

Crews have removed the temporary roadway in this section of the I-5 median just north of S. 317th and are beginning to build a wall that will support the HOV on and off-ramps (the new S. 317th bridge is to the right of this photo).

A construction worker peers out from his task inside the framework of the S. 317th bridge. This is the curved portion that will flare out toward the HOV on and off-ramps in the median.

Removing the temporary roadway pavement in the I-5 median, now that southbound I-5 traffic has been moved back onto the newly rebuilt mainline.

At the northbound I-5 bridge over Military Road, we will soon close this gap between the old bridge (right) and the new, widened portion of the bridge (left) with concrete.

Southbound I-5 traffic travels on the mainline for the first time in over eight months on the morning of July 1. Traffic was shifted to the temporary roadway (right) last October to make room for construction of the new S. 317th Street bridge (at the top of this photo).

Sound Transit's new Federal Way Transit Center, just west of I-5 at S. 317th, is on schedule for completion early next year. Crews are installing electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems in the garage structure and grading the surrounding area. A lot of progress has been made, if you look at this photo from last November.

Crews have landscaped the new detention pond that sits between southbound I-5 and the S. 320th exit ramp (this view is looking east toward the freeway). Remember what this area looked like in February?
