In Dec. 2006 an oversized load struck girders supporting southbound I-5 over Pacific Avenue. Crews must now rip out and replace the damaged girder.
To do this work safely, they will construct a 200-foot long traffic island in the middle of southbound I-5 from Marine View Drive to US 2, separating the two left lanes from the right lane.
All lanes will continue southbound on I-5. However, the two left lanes will not allow access to US 2, Everett Avenue or 41st Street exits. Drivers wishing to use these exits must use the right lane.
